Commenting on the joint press conference with David Davis and Michel Barnier in Brussels earlier today, Chris Leslie MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:
“David Davis calls for imaginative solutions, but it’s clear he’s letting his imagination run away with him if he thinks these talks are going to plan.
“It is increasingly clear that the lack of progress means that talks on trade and the future relationship cannot start yet. The Government’s lack of preparation and total dearth of realistic policy positions is catching up with them.
“The clock is ticking. Every time David Davis fails to do his homework, the possibility of a Brexit with a bad deal or no deal at all becomes more likely.
“To protect our economy from a destructive Brexit, the Government needs to wake up and negotiate in the real world. They should start by reversing their ideological choice to wrench Britain out of the Single Market and the Customs Union.”
