Commenting on the House of Lords EU Committee report on post-Brexit trade options released today [Tuesday], Chris Leslie MP, supporter of Open Britain, said:
“There will be serious consequences for our economy if we lose the benefits of being in the Single Market and the Customs Union.
“As this report makes clear, there is almost no chance of agreeing a Free Trade Agreement with the EU within just two years. Defaulting onto World Trade Organisation rules instead would erect massive trade barriers between Britain and Europe, hitting British businesses hard and raising prices in the shops.
“As recent polling made clear, most Leave supporters did not cast their votes in order to become poorer. Our country cannot afford a Brexit that makes working people worse off.”
