The Bank of England expects that 75,000 financial services jobs could be lost as a result of Brexit, it is reported today.
Commenting, Alison McGovern MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:
“Today’s news that 75,000 financial services jobs are at risk from an extreme, no deal Brexit is deeply worrying and continues the drumbeat of Brexit bad news facing the British economy.
“But we didn't really need the Bank of England to tell us that a no deal Brexit would be a disaster for British jobs and the economy. In Merseyside we have already seen job losses announced in car manufacturing, and if we don't get a deal many more could follow.
“The Government must bring an end to this Brexit uncertainty by negotiating continued permanent membership of both the Single Market and the Customs Union, including financial services passporting rights for UK firms.”
