Umunna – Brexit divorce bill is money for nothing

Liz Truss, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, will face an Urgent Question in the House of Commons this afternoon on news that the Government has agreed a financial settlement with the EU of over £50 billion.

Commenting, Chuka Umunna MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:

“This is money for nothing. We are paying out tens of billions of pounds to the EU for the privilege of having a worse trading relationship with Europe than we have now. In what world is that a good idea?

“We have already seen growth downgraded, the pound plunge and prices rise in the shops. As the Brexit the British people were sold becomes clearly undeliverable, they have a right

“As it becomes clear Brexit in the terms it was sold is undeliverable, the British people have the right to keep an open mind about whether this is really the best future for Britain.”
