The UK border could be exposed on the first day after Brexit, a report by the Public Accounts Committee released tomorrow [Friday] makes clear.
Commenting, Ben Bradshaw MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:
“The Government is risking a hard border by pulling Britain out of the Single Market and the Customs Union, but as this report makes clear they are nowhere near prepared for the possible consequences.
“We could face a nightmare scenario of lorries backing up the motorways around our ports, businesses seeing their supply chains thrown into chaos, and prices rising further in the shops due to the increased cost of trade.
“Ministers are making it up as they go along, putting our economy at risk of customs chaos. Nobody voted for that. As new facts emerge, voters have the right to keep an open mind about Brexit.”
