The Brexit Secretary, David Davis, appeared today before the House of Lords EU select committee.
Commenting, Tom Brake MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:
“On the day the EU published their guidelines for a Brexit transition period, David Davis still can't give any clarity about what sort of end-state the Government actually wants to transition to.
“The Brexit Secretary's appearance before the Lords EU committee was full of bluster and empty promises, but no actual detail about how he plans to continue both having and eating his Brexit cake. The financial services industry certainly won't be happy to hear there's still no plans to publish a paper on how Brexit will affect them.
“Brexit is already turning out to be much more complicated and expensive than anyone could have known during the referendum. As the costs mount up, and as the false promises of Brexiters like David Davis continue to be exposed, everyone has the right to keep an open mind about whether it's the right path for the country.”
