Creagh – Gove’s speech is nothing new; he should focus on protecting farmers from Brexit

Commenting on Michael Gove’s speech on agriculture and Brexit earlier today, Mary Creagh MP, leading supporter of Open Britain and Chair of the Environmental Audit Committee, said:

“My Committee has heard that British farmers are worried about losing vital cash support as a result of Brexit, and about the looming threat of tariffs on their produce.

“This speech contains nothing new, as the Common Agricultural Policy already includes incentives for environmentally-responsible farming.

“Michael Gove should focus on ensuring that British farmers will not be left worse off in any way by Brexit, as he promised during the referendum campaign.”
