New inflation stats out today show that the UK rate of inflation remains unchanged at 3% in January 2018. That remains above average wage growth, meaning real wages continue to fall.
Commenting, Stella Creasy MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:
“The Brexit squeeze shows no sign of releasing its pressure on living standards, with real wages continuing to fall thanks to high inflation.
“With inflation still well above the Bank of England’s target, people have the right to start asking whether they want to put up with a Brexit that continues to bite into their wages.
“No-one voted for a Brexit that makes them or their family poorer. As the Brexit that was promised becomes increasingly undeliverable, people are entitled to keep an open mind about whether it’s the right path for the country.”
