Commenting on Amber Rudd’s speech to Conservative Party Conference today, Stella Creasy MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:
“The Government’s policy of cutting net migration to the tens of thousands is in tatters. When the Home Secretary won’t even mention the target in her keynote Conference speech, it’s clear the policy has lost all credibility and Cabinet support.
“It is encouraging that the Home Office is seeking evidence on the value of migration to Britain’s businesses, public services and universities, although this is long overdue.
“It’s about time Ministers based their immigration policy on evidence and on the best interests of our economy, not on absurd targets that nobody believes can be achieved. It is time for them to drop their damaging and unworkable net migration target.”
