New figures released today by the ONS show UK GDP growth in the first quarter of 2018 was just 0.1%, unrevised from earlier estimates.
Commenting, Stephen Doughty MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“The evidence is as clear as day: Brexit is damaging our economy. Households are hundreds of pounds worse off, the value of the pound has taken a battering and our economy is stuck in the global slow lane.
“We have gone from the fastest growing economy in the G7 before the Brexit vote to one of the slowest growing in the developed world today. Brexit is making us poorer.
“With Brexit already damaging our prosperity, and with the Government’s ideological plan to wrench us out of the Single Market and the Customs Union set to make the situation much worse, we need a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.”
