Doughty – Fall in real wages shows working people are feeling the pinch of Brexit

Commenting on the news that real wages have fallen by 0.4% in the three months to July, Stephen Doughty MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:

“Working people are feeling the pinch as the post-Brexit plummet in the value of the pound has pushed up prices in the shops.

“Wages are failing to keep pace with higher prices on vital goods like food, clothing and fuel, as these figures show today.

“To restore confidence in our economy and protect working peoples’ living standards, Ministers must urgently reverse their choice to endanger our economy by leaving the Single Market and the Customs Union.”
