Commenting on David Davis’ speech in Berlin this evening, Peter Kyle MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:
“Satire is dead. This Government is taking Britain out of the world’s largest free trade area, which buys half of our exports, because of their failure to stand up to backbench Brextremists. It is absurd that they should be lecturing others about putting politics ahead of prosperity.
“It's clear that as a result of their decision to leave the Single Market and the Customs Union, our businesses will face at best a Canada-style deal which does nothing for our service sector and would take years to negotiate. This would drive jobs out of Britain, and is a far cry from David Davis' promise to secure the 'exact same benefits' on trade.
“As the negotiations continue to fail to deliver what was promised by Leave campaigners and Government ministers, the British public have a right to keep an open mind about Brexit.”
