A new report by NIESR published today (Wednesday) suggests that UK GDP growth slowed to 0.2% in Q1 of 2018.
Commenting, Peter Kyle MP, leading supporter of the Open Britain campaign, said:
“Thanks to Brexit, we are facing what promises to be the worst five years for our economy in modern history. Since the 2016 referendum we have become accustomed to anaemic economic growth, but even by these standards, growth of 0.2% is shockingly low.
“With economic growth slowing, that means less money for vital public services like our NHS, the opposite of what was promised by Leave campaigners during the Brexit referendum.
“As Brexit becomes ever more costly and complicated, people are entitled to keep an open mind about whether it’s the right path for the country.”
