Nissan announced today that it will be cutting hundreds of jobs from its Sunderland plant, although the company denied the decision was related to Brexit.
Commenting, Peter Kyle MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“Whether or not these job losses are directly related to Brexit, these are worrying times for the UK’s car industry.
“Leaving the Single Market and the Customs Union will lead to extra bureaucracy, costs, and delays within the complex supply chains on which the automotive industry relies.
“With our world-class automotive sector increasingly concerned about the potential implications of Brexit, the people must have a voice on the terms of withdrawal through a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.”
