Commenting on the vote on Amendment G to the Queen’s Speech, which supported membership of the Single Market and Customs Union, Peter Kyle MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:
“It’s encouraging that over 100 MPs from different parties put partisanship to one side to vote for this amendment. Membership of the Single Market and Customs Union represents the best economic future for Britain, with the Government’s own figures showing that leaving will damage our economy and put jobs at risk.
“The onus is now on the Government to negotiate a comprehensive trade and customs deal with the EU that gives us the ‘exact same benefits’, as both the Prime Minister and David Davis promised. If they cannot do so, Single Market and Customs Union membership must be put back on the table to prevent a hard, job-destroying Brexit.”
