The Guardian has published a document from the European Commission which slams Theresa May’s Brexit speech as “double cherry picking” and “more a domestic communication” from a PM “trying to keep the unity in her Cabinet”.

Commenting, Chris Leslie MP, leading supporter of the Open Britain campaign, said:
“The Commission’s view that Theresa May is ‘double cherry picking’ shows how far the Government has to go to present a credible negotiating position.
“The Commission plainly see the Prime Minister’s speech in much the same way as many in Britain do, a means to satisfy internal party critics and not as a serious contribution to the negotiating process.
“If the Government cannot produce a realistic and workable negotiating position a year after the Article 50 notice, we are all entitled to ask if Brexit is the right choice for our country.”
