Commenting on the news that the UK economy grew by 0.4% in the third quarter of 2017, Chris Leslie MP, leading supporter of the Open Britain campaign, said:
“These figures show the damaging impact Brexit is already having on the economy, with workers and consumers feeling the squeeze in lower wages and higher prices.
"In the last year, Britain has gone from being the one of the fastest growing economies in the developed world to one of the slowest, and 2017 could be the worst year for British growth since the financial crisis.
“The only way for the Government to end the Brexit uncertainty is to rule out a disastrous no deal outcome and seek to negotiate for UK membership of the Single Market and Customs Union.”
