Commenting on the Prime Minister’s statement in the House of Commons this afternoon on the EU Council summit, Chris Leslie MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:
“This should have been the day that the Prime Minister reported to MPs that negotiations with the EU would be moving on to discuss trade and our future relationship. The fact that she can’t is a sign of her Government’s failings and the complexities of the Brexit process that are ignored by the Brextremists in the Cabinet.
“As Britain’s biggest business groups have made clear, the lack of progress in the talks is having an impact now on business and investment. If we cannot discuss the future trade relationship between Britain and the EU until December at the earliest, uncertainty will mount and the chances of a destructive hard Brexit that puts jobs at risk will grow.
“To give business certainty and protect jobs and our economy, the only course open to the Government is to drop their ideological red lines and commit to keep Britain in the Single Market and Customs Union.”
