The National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) has today (Wednesday) published a report on the prospects for the British economy
Commenting, Chris Leslie MP, leading supporter of the Open Britain campaign, said:
“The Government urgently has to make a choice. Having ruled out staying in the Single Market and the Customs Union, it cannot continue to pretend that we can have our cake and eat it.
“The NIESR report shows that to limit the damage to the economy from Brexit, we have to continue in key alliances - which will mean pulling our weight and contributing to the club, not expecting a free lunch.
“The alternative is to keep putting the ideology of a fringe wing of the Conservative Party first and risk crashing out with no deal whatsoever, which this report shows would be nothing short of catastrophic.
“As new facts about this grim choice become clearer, people are entitled to keep an open mind about whether either of these Brexit outcomes matches up to what was promised in the referendum."
