The deadline for achieving progress in the Brexit negotiations ahead of the European Council summit next week is this Sunday, the European Commission’s chief spokesman has said today.
Commenting, Chris Leslie MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:
“Yesterday the dog ate David Davis’ homework. Today, the Government is in a full-on essay crisis over Brexit. After months of faffing around, they have just a few days to come up with some solutions.
“Failure to make progress at the European Council meeting next week would be a disaster. The chances of a destructive no-deal Brexit would increase, and the flow of jobs leaving the UK would become a flood.
“Leaving the EU is far more complex than we were told. Nobody expected the talks to be so stuck in the mud eighteen months after the referendum. Voters have the right to keep an open mind about whether this shambolic situation is really the best future for our country.”
