Commenting on David Davis’ U-turn over Parliament having a meaningful vote on the Brexit deal, Pat McFadden MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:
“This U-turn exposes another self-created shambles in Government over Brexit. First parliament was promised a meaningful vote. Then this morning this turned into an after the fact rubber stamp.
“Now they have reversed the position and promised a vote before leaving again. What this chaotic episode exposes is that Parliamentary scrutiny of what the Government is doing is nothing more than an afterthought. Their heart is not in it.
“Today is proof positive of the need to ensure Parliament is given a meaningful say over the terms the Government negotiates and not presented with some take it or leave it fait accompli.”
