McGovern – Davis can bluster, but the Government’s position is not tenable

Commenting on David Davis’ statement in the House of Commons today, Alison McGovern MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:

“For once, I sympathise with David Davis – acting as Theresa May’s human shield can’t be easy. It should have been the Prime Minister explaining herself to Parliament today after her bungling blunders in Brussels yesterday.

“Mr Davis can bluster all he likes, but the inconsistent nonsense that is the Government’s position is no longer tenable. To protect our trade, maintain a soft border on the island of Ireland, and hold our United Kingdom together, the Government has to u-turn on its reckless plan to leave the Single Market and the Customs Union.

“Nobody voted for this chaos. As new facts emerge, and as Brexit becomes so much more complicated than we were told, the voters have the right to keep an open mind about Brexit.”
