McGovern – Extreme and destructive Brexit continues to hit ordinary working families in the pocket

Commenting on the news that inflation has risen to 2.9%, an increase of 0.3% on the previous month, Alison McGovern MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:

“Ordinary working families are being hit in the pocket with price rises thanks to the Government’s plans for an extreme and destructive Brexit, even as wages continue to stagnate.

“The value of the pound has plummeted since the referendum, which is pushing up the price of everyday goods like food, clothing and petrol.

“To avoid this bombshell of higher prices from hitting working people even harder, the Government needs to commit to keeping Britain in the Single Market and the Customs Union.”
