The head of Vauxhall has said lack of clarity over Brexit threatens the future of its Ellesmere Port operation.
Vauxhall employs about 4,500 people in the UK, with about 1,800 at Ellesmere Port.
Commenting, Alison McGovern, MP for Wirral South and leading supporter of Open Britain, said:
“First Airbus and now Vauxhall. The number of iconic companies in Britain warning about the consequences of a hard and destructive Brexit is growing by the day.
“If Brexit leads to companies like Vauxhall or Airbus limiting their investment in the UK or withdrawing completely, this will cost our country thousands of skilled jobs and be a disaster for the economy, particularly outside London.
“No-one voted for Brexit to make themselves poorer or for jobs to be lost. If that's the cost of Brexit, everyone is entitled to keep an open mind about whether it's the right path for our country.”
