Commenting on Jeremy Corbyn’s speech at the CBI conference earlier today, Alison McGovern MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:
“Jeremy Corbyn is right to call on Theresa May to immediately give business the certainty it needs that there will be a transitional period. If they do not have clarity soon, companies will begin activating their Brexit contingency plans, pulling investment, and shifting jobs abroad – which would be a disaster for working people the length and breadth of Britain.
“But the best way to give businesses and workers alike the certainty they need is to pledge to keep Britain in the Single Market and the Customs Union for the long term, not merely for transition.
“Only by being part of the world’s largest market, in which we work across borders to make high-value products, can we build a country that works for the many and not just the few.”
