International Trade Secretary Liam Fox today (Tuesday) made a speech attacking the idea of staying in the Customs Union.
Commenting, James McGrory, Executive Director of the Open Britain campaign, said:
“The man who was once Liam Fox’s chief civil service advisor, Sir Martin Donnelly, says Dr Fox is asking us to swap the three-course meal that membership of the Customs Union and the Single Market gives us, for the promise of a packet of crisps.
“If once he was the Golden Wonder of the Government, today’s stale speech shows Liam Fox’s views on Europe and the Customs Union are now way past their sell-by date.
“Dr Fox might want to Walkers into a hard Brexit but anyone with a Quaver of sense knows his plans are totally Hula Hoops.
“With crunch time approaching in the negotiations, the Prime Minister needs to ignore the dodgy crisp salesmen in her Cabinet and decide what flavour of Brexit she actually wants.”
