UK employers’ confidence has fallen for the third month in a row, according to a new report published today by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).
REC chief executive Kevin Green warned the NHS was particularly at risk due to a potential fall in the number of EU workers coming to Britain.
Commenting, James McGrory, Executive Director of Open Britain, said:
“Our NHS and companies across Britain are feeling the consequences of the damaging uncertainty unleashed by Brexit.
“Fear about lack of access to EU workers – exacerbated by the Government’s damaging, ideological policy of cutting net migration to the tens of thousands – is already hitting our economy and our public services. And this will be severely compounded if Britain undergoes a hard, destructive Brexit.
“To save our NHS from the worst effects of Brexit, it is vital that Ministers act to guarantee the rights of EU citizens living in Britain, and drop their damaging, unachievable net migration target.”
