McGrory – New polling shows Brexit worm is starting to turn

New polling published today by The Daily Mirror shows that, if there were another referendum on EU membership, 55% would support the UK remaining in the EU. It also found that 75% of Labour voters would back remain. Young voters aged 18-24 would back remain by 77%.

Commenting, James McGrory, Executive Director of Open Britain, said:

“It looks like the worm is starting to turn.

“In a mature democracy like ours, the will of the people can and does change and the British public have every right to keep an open mind about Brexit as new facts continue to emerge.

“Ministers need to start being upfront with people about the real costs and complexities of leaving the EU and let them judge whether the Brexit being delivered matches up to the one they were promised.

“And this should serve as a wake-up call to the Labour leadership about the disconnect between their position on Brexit and that of their voters.”
