Over 120 elected student leaders, representing close to one million students, have come together to demand a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.
The elected student union officials, representing student bodies in every region and nation of the UK, have come together through the For our Future’s Sake (FFS) campaign.
Commenting, Wes Streeting MP, leading supporter of the People's Vote campaign and a former president of the National Union of Students, said:
“Brexit will affect generations for generations and will potentially deprive millions of young people of the chances and opportunities that European citizenship brings.
“This week we have learnt that our universities could be big losers of research funding as a result of leaving the EU and that Brexit threatens the ability of British students to participate fully in the Erasmus programme.
“Today’s students are already lumbered with record debt and are paying more, for longer, for their higher education than any previous generation. Taking away their rights to live, learn and love across another 30 countries from the EEA is only adding insult to injury.
“No wonder so many young people feel that an older generation is happy to take their tax money while stiffing them in any way they can.
“The only way to end this generational divide is to have a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.”
