A survey from the New Local Government Network reports that 61% of local government leaders expect Brexit to have a “negative” or “very negative” impact on their locality.
Commenting, Wes Streeting MP, leading supporter of the Open Britain campaign, said:
“Yesterday Theresa May admitted that Brexit would mean less trade and that we could not expect ‘the same benefits’ if we left the Single Market and Customs Union.
”Today the New Local Government Network's survey shows that a clear majority of district council leaders from across the political parties expect Brexit to damage their locality.
“As it becomes ever clearer that the Brexit we were promised cannot be delivered, it is right we keep an open mind on whether it is the right choice for the country.”
