The Chief Executive of Barclays, Jes Staley, has said the bank will be tightening their lending criteria to the UK economy because Brexit uncertainty is stunting economic growth.
Commenting, Gareth Thomas MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“Brexit is already having a severe negative effect on our prosperity: Barclay's tightening of its lending criteria to the UK economy is yet more evidence of how Brexit is already making us all worse-off.
“If other big financial institutions follow suit in tightening up their lending to the UK, we will all suffer the consequences of lower investment.
“New facts like this coming to light mean the British people are entitled to demand a People's Vote on the final Brexit deal.”
