Thomas – leaving with no deal would be “catastrophic” so we must have a People’s Vote

The Sunday Times have reported that secret Government studies of the impact of a ‘no deal’ Brexit predict widespread shortages of basic goods, with petrol running out after a week.

Commenting, Gareth Thomas MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:

“The closer we get to the Government’s self-imposed deadline for leaving the EU, the clearer it becomes what is at stake.

“This week the Government were warned that without a solution to the Irish border question the U.K. risks being forced to leave with no deal. And the Government have no solution to the border question because of their insistence on leaving the Customs Union and Europe’s economic area and the Single Market.

“As even the Government’s own assessment shows leaving with no deal would be catastrophic, it is essential that the final decision on Brexit is put to a People’s Vote.”
