Umunna – EMA and EBA announcement shows hard Brexit is auctioning off UK jobs

A total of 19 European Union countries are bidding to host the European Medicines Agency and the European Banking Authority after Brexit. The two EU agencies currently employ over 1,000 people in London.

Commenting, Chuka Umunna MP, leading supporter of Open Britain, said:

“Hard Brexit is responsible for the grotesque sight of 1,000 UK jobs being auctioned away across the EU, with cities queuing up to take high-quality jobs away from Britain.

“Quite clearly, voting Leave has led to Britain losing control of regulation in medicines and banking and the jobs that come with them.

“The Government should be keeping Britain in the Single Market and fighting hard to retain these agencies in the UK.”
