Polling published today by The Guardian/ICM suggests that the British people support a People’s Vote on the terms of Brexit by 47% to 37%.
Commenting, Chuka Umunna MP, leading supporter of the People’s Vote campaign, said:
“There is clearly great strength in the public's support for a People’s Vote on the terms of any Brexit deal, and momentum is building.
“An issue as important as Brexit cannot be left to 650 MPs in Westminster to decide: the 65 million people of this country are entitled to have their voices heard too.
“The Government promised to deliver a deal with the ‘exact same benefits’ as we have now. With that fantasy slipping away, people are entitled to look at the terms of Brexit and have their say on whether or not it’s in the best interests of the country.”
