What We Found in Clacton
Farage’s Constituents Are Already Losing Faith
Last July, Nigel Farage finally did it. After seven failed attempts, he won a seat in Parliament – representing the Essex seaside town of Clacton-on-Sea.
Since then, Reform UK has surged. They’ve gone from 14% in the General Election to over 30% in national polling, and swept control of 13 councils in this year’s local elections. On paper, Reform is riding high.
So, we went to Clacton to see what victory actually looks like on the ground.
And what we found wasn’t triumph – it was frustration, doubt, and disappointment.
"We haven’t seen him."
We spoke to dozens of local residents. Many expressed anger with the Labour government. Some said they would vote Reform again. But almost none of them had a clear reason why.
“It’s worth trying something new.”
“What other choice do we have?”
Not once did we hear a voter talk about local improvements. Not once did anyone say Farage had made a difference. Instead, we heard:
“He doesn’t seem to be doing anything for us.”
“We haven’t seen him.”
That’s not an isolated problem. Since becoming an MP, Farage has:
Visited the United States eight times
Mentioned Clacton only four times in Parliament
Rarely appeared in his own constituency
Even those who backed him are beginning to ask: Where is he?

Farage, Reform and the Failures of a Broken System
The man most likely to be the next Prime Minister is already losing credibility in his own seat.
So how has it come to this? A candidate who vanishes after election. A party on the rise, despite doing little for the communities it claims to represent.
The answer is simple: our system is broken – and Farage is exploiting every crack.
At Open Britain, we’re fighting back. Here’s how:
⚖️ Campaigning for proportional representation – so no party can win a majority with just 30% of the vote
💸 Demanding stronger rules on political donations – to shut out dark money and foreign influence
📱 Pushing for accountability from Big Tech – whose platforms amplify lies and misinformation
🚫 Challenging the populist right – exposing the gap between their rhetoric and reality
We're Taking This Nationwide
This August, while Parliament is in recess, we’re travelling to new Reform strongholds – places where they’ve taken over councils or won seats – to ask voters the same questions we asked in Clacton.
We want to understand what’s really happening in these communities – and whether Reform is delivering on its promises.
