Defensive Constitutional Reform: What we told Parliament - and why it matters
At the end of April, we launched our reports on Defensive Constitutional Reform in Parliament.
This free online event is a chance for members of the 99% Organisation, Open Britain, Unlock Democracy - and anyone interested in protecting UK democracy - to hear what we told MPs and Peers, why reform is urgent, and what should happen next.
The event will be chaired by Dominic Minghella.
Our expert panel will include:
Professor Andrew Blick - Professor of Politics and Contemporary History at King’s College London and co-director of the Centre for British Democracy. He is co-author, with Lord Hennessy, of Could it Happen Here? The Day a Prime Minister Refuses to Resign.
Tom Brake - CEO of Unlock Democracy and a former MP of 22 years, with a long record of campaigning for democratic reform, greater transparency, votes at 16, and protection against foreign interference in UK elections.
Mark Kieran - CEO of Open Britain and a campaigner for fair elections, political transparency, and a democracy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy and well-connected.
Professor Christina Pagel - Professor of Operational Research at University College London and founder of the Trump Action Tracker, which monitors actions linked to authoritarianism in the United States.
Mark E Thomas - Founder of the 99% Organisation and author of 99%: Mass Impoverishment and How We Can End It.
