Your call for a National Commission on Electoral Reform reaches Downing Street
Our petition calling for a National Commission on Electoral Reform is now in the Prime Minister's hands. We'll be spending his first 100 days making sure this opportunity for change doesn't quietly pass by.
More than 13,000 people so far have added their name to our call for fairer elections, and this week we delivered that message directly to Downing Street.
Our petition calls on the Prime Minister to establish a National Commission on Electoral Reform within his first 100 days in office.
The petition and the thousands of comments people took the time to share send a clear message to the Government. People want elections that are fair. They want every vote to count. They want a Parliament that better reflects the way people vote.
Many spoke about feeling forced into tactical voting. Others described living in safe seats where their vote never seems to matter. Many questioned a system that allows governments to win commanding parliamentary majorities on the support of only a minority of voters.
That message has now been delivered.
Handing over the petition is an important milestone - but it isn't the end of the campaign.
With the petition now in the Prime Minister's hands, the countdown has begun.
The first 100 days of a new government are a rare window to set priorities and shape the years ahead. We'll be spending them making sure the opportunity to establish a National Commission on Electoral Reform doesn't quietly pass by.
