100 voices for the Prime Minister’s first 100 days
It’s Day 25 of the Prime Minister’s first 100 days – so we sent him a card containing 100 messages from people calling for a National Commission on Electoral Reform.
The Prime Minister has now been in Downing Street for 25 days.
Thousands of people have signed our petition asking him to make those important first 100 days count by establishing a National Commission on Electoral Reform.
We’ve already delivered their petition to Downing Street. Now we’ve sent him something else: 100 of the thousands of comments people left alongside their signatures.
The messages come from people across the country who want politics to work better and believe the public should have a meaningful say in how we elect our MPs.
They don’t all agree on what the answer should be. Some talk about votes that don’t count. Others about safe seats, tactical voting, trust in politics or a system they no longer believe properly represents them.
Those different perspectives are exactly the point.
We’re not asking the Prime Minister to decide the answer behind closed doors. We’re asking him to establish an independent, evidence-led National Commission that puts ordinary voters and their views at the heart of deciding what comes next.
The first 100 days are an opportunity to show what kind of government this will be. We hope the Prime Minister will use them to put fairer elections firmly on the agenda.
