This is Bigger Than Politics

We've officially launched Bigger Than Politics - a new campaign to help make the next General Election fairer for everyone.

For too long, debates about politics have focused almost entirely on politicians, parties and elections themselves.

We think it's time to look at the rules underneath politics instead.

Long before polling day arrives, the rules of our democracy are already shaping the election to come. They influence whether people can trust the information they're given, whether wealth buys undue influence, whether votes are translated fairly into political power, and whether those in power are held to account.

We believe the rules can change.

That's what Bigger Than Politics is all about.

There is a real opportunity during this Parliament to strengthen the rules that underpin our elections - before the country next goes to the polls. Doing that will take more than politicians acting alone. It will require people from across the country – whatever their politics - coming together behind the simple idea that elections should be fair for everyone, whatever party they support.

To mark the launch, we've opened the doors to the new Bigger Than Politics website.

We've spent months building it as the home of the campaign. It's where you'll find the ideas behind Bigger Than Politics, explore the changes we're working for, and discover how you can help build support for fairer elections.

This is just the beginning.
